CBRE Global Investors, the owner of the shopping centre Ogrody in Elbląg, was granted the environmental decision for the project of the expansion of the centre. The commencement of works on the expansion is scheduled for the third quarter 2012. Granting the environmental decision means that the owner of the investment may apply for the building permit.

“The administrative process is going in accordance with the assumptions adopted. Getting the environmental decision is another step to the expansion of the centre, start of which is planned on September this year. The procedure to obtain BREEAM certificate, for which the project has applied, is also underway. The sustainable development certificate will confirm the ecological character of design solutions, materials and installations used as well as of the entire investment process,” informs Tomasz Szewczyk of Acteeum Central Europe which, on behalf of CBRE Global Investors, performs the expansion of two buildings in the investor's portfolio: CH Ogrody and CH Sarni Stok in Bielsko Biała, being responsible for administrative procedures, expansion as well as commercialisation of Ogrody.

In the process of granting the environmental decision to and determining environmental constraints for CH Ogrody, the decision making body (Biuro Ochrony Środowiska Urzędu Miasta Elbląg – Office of Environment Protection by the City Council of Elblag) took into consideration a number of factors important to the future development of this part of the city, in which the investment is situated (housing estates of Zawada and Nad Jarem) as well as the quality of life of local residents during the expansion.

For the purpose of the application for the decision, the investor prepared analyses concerning i.a. fumes emission, noise level or transport, which proved that after the expansion the centre will become even more environment friendly thus increasing the comfort of life of the residents of the nearest vicinity of Ogrody shopping centre.

New “Ogrody” are going to be opened in the second quarter of 2014. After the completion of the investment worth EUR 55 million, a twice as large as before modern regional centre will arise, with the leasable area of 43,500 sqm, providing services and entertainments functions.
