Meeting expectations

Marcin Materny, Director of Shopping Centres Department at Echo Investment

We all agree that the Internet, especially the popularity and availability of mobile devices, resulted in the creation of more aware and demanding consumers. That's why we call them smart shoppers. These customers know where and when to buy during sales, and our task is to make them visit our shopping centres regularly, when doing the shopping or exploring our entertainment, sports or food court offer.

In our centres, we constantly improve the offer by introducing new concepts, such as the large medical centre in Galeria Echo; we implement thorough refurbishments of food court areas, e.g. in Pasaż Grunwaldzki and carry out extensions of entire assets, as illustrated by Galaxy and Outlet Park in Szczecin.

Echo Investment has a different approach to designing new centres as well. When we started working on Galeria Libero in Katowice, we posed a question how to make this project stand out in the market apart from an excellent location? The answer was three pillars we based that project on – offer, comfort and architecture. We have spent a lot of time analysing construction detail of the competitive projects in Katowice. We compared walkways, the visibility of shop windows, the attractiveness of the plaza, the food vendor mix. This is how we created a comparison database which allows us to create a modern asset answering the current needs of shoppers and tenants.

We are working on making Galeria Libero a home of the most technologically advanced cinema in Silesia, which will be taken care of by Helios. We also envisioned a rich food court offer, which will be characterised by some new restaurant concepts. There will also be a spacious fitness club Fabryka Formy, as well as a club with pool game, bowling and a disco. The entire project will be complemented with an outdoor plaza – a new publicly open square for the inhabitants of southern Katowice, which will offer a whole range of leisure and sports functions.

Galeria Libero is an excellent example of Echo Investment's approach to the changing expectations of shoppers and tenants.
