Europa Centralna

The UK retailer Sports Direct, which offers sports clothing and accessories, has leased 2350 sqm at the retail park of the Europa Centralna shopping centre in Gliwice. It is the first lease signed by Sports Direct in Poland.

Five million people live within its catchment area and anchor tenants include Tesco, Media Saturn, Castorama and Jula. The Europa Centralna scheme was opened on 1 March 2013. Cushman & Wakefield is responsible for the commercialization of this retail park and represented the scheme’s owner, Helical Sośnica, in this transaction.

Sports Direct was founded as Ashley Sports in 1982 and has become the UK’s leading sports equipment and clothing retailer by revenue and operating profit. The Sports Direct Group also includes, Field and Trek, Hargreaves Sports, Gilesports and Donnay International stores. It has more than 470 stores across Europe, including the famous Lillywhites store at Piccadilly Circus in London.
