The cornerstone has been laid for Malta House office building in Poznan

Malta Office House, Poznań.

On the 21 June, the ceremony of laying a cornerstone for Malta House took place. It will be the first office building in Poznan to be certified in the LEED environmental system.

The ceremony of laying the cornerstone took place at the construction site of the Malta House in ks. Abpa Antoniego Baraniaka Street. The foundation act was signed by Jerzy Stępień, vice-mayor of the city of Poznan, Waldemar Olbryk, CEO of Skanska Property Poland, Rafał Jaworowicz, Skanska S.A. Division Director and Katarzyna Zawodna, Region North Director, Skanska Property Poland. Apart from the foundation act also the front pages of Poznan's newspapers from 21 June 2012 were placed in a special chrome tube.

Jerzy Stępień, the vice-mayor of Poznan, who was present at the ceremony, told: “an important factor which increases the investment attractiveness of Poznan for modern industries such as BPO, SSC or R&D is availability of high-class office space. New buildings, constructed in accordance to the highest standards help attracting new investors to the city and enable development of those already operating in Poznan.”

The architectonic design of Malta House, Skanska S.A. being its general contractor was prepared by the Pentagram Architekci studio. The building will have five above ground storeys and two underground ones. Its total leasable area will amount to 15,700 sqm. The tenants will be able to use 272 car parking spaces as well as a parking for bikes and a locker room with showers for those using them. The commissioning of the building is scheduled for the third quarter of 2013.
