New City with BREEAM In-Use “Excellent” certificate

The New City office complex, located at 15 Marynarska Street in Warsaw, which is managed by Hines Polska for Hines Global REIT fund, has received a prestigious BREEAM In-Use certificate in the “Asset” and “Building Management” categories with “Excellent” grade.

Receiving BREEAM In-Use ‘Excellent’ certificate for New City is an acknowledgement of the commitment to tenants’ comfort, the natural environment and management of buildings in a sustainable and effective way, which is in line with Hines' standards,” said Przemysław Iznerowicz, project director at Hines Polska.

The very high rating was mainly a result of the efficient building management procedures, in particular the attention to energy efficiency improvement. The complex also stands out for its use of environmentally-friendly construction materials and commitment to minimise environmental pollution, for example through implementing waste management procedures. The auditors also appreciated the great location of the complex and amenities for tenants, such as Singu CarPooling, an innovative carpooling platform launched this March.

In the BREEAM In-Use certification process, we assess a sustainable approach to the building use, which would not be possible without green and energy-saving solutions implemented already at the design stage. New City buildings were able to obtain the exceptionally high ‘Excellent’ rating in both categories with firm management and those solutions being put to use. Furthermore, New City particularly stands out for its green walls and roof that improve air quality in the building, enhance the microclimate, absorb carbon dioxide, reduce noise and store water,” said Ewa Kowalska-Ocneanu, chief sustainability at WSP and certification process assessor.

The office complex New City composed of two high-class buildings: New City and New City 2, with total area of over 44,000 sq m, is located at Marynarska 15, in the centre of the office district in Mokotów – the largest business district in Warsaw.
