Skanska to sell Westin Warsaw Hotel to Qatari Fund

Skanska has sold its Westin hotel to the Qatari Al Sraiya Holding Group. This is the investor’s first acquisition in both Poland and the Central and Eastern Europe region as a whole. It is also Skanska’s first transaction regarding hotel real estate in Poland.

The five-star Westin Warsaw Hotel, managed by Marriott international Inc., is located in the heart of Warsaw’s business district. It was opened in 2003 and has recently undergone a major renovation. Furthermore, it was the first hotel object in Poland to be adjusted to the challenging requirements of LEED certification for existing buildings. The building was submitted for a thorough audit, inspecting aspects including the building’s technical standards as well as the level of satisfaction connected to working conditions among employees. The hotel was recognized with an LEED Silver certificate.

The Westin Warsaw features 361 well-appointed guestrooms including a spectacular Presidential Suite spanning over 100 square meters and Executive Club Lounge. The 20-storey hotel has a unique glass-covered elevator offering panoramic views that has already become one of the city’s architectural landmarks. Almost 120 rooms have been recently renovated and offer elegant comforts created by London based designer – Anita Rosato. Designed to help travelers play well and work well, The Westin Warsaw’s unique banqueting product appeals both for business functions and celebrations. Over 1 000 square meters of recently renovated meeting and event space includes thirteen multi-function rooms.

During the purchase transaction, Skanska was represented by international advisory firm JLL. From the legal side, the buyer was advised on the transaction by Linklaters legal firm, while the seller was advised on by Dentons global legal firm.
